A medical language translation digital application connecting First Nations people with medical professionals
Improving communication between health professionals and Indigenous language-speaking patients, enhancing the way in which we deliver health care communication. As a result, empowering and retaining Indigenous Languages through a health initiative.
The youth-driven initiative has expanded from an inaugural language "Nyangumarta" in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, to now include ~15 languages within Australia and across the world. We continue to expand and seek further connections.
The Lyfe Languages Champions Program is an initiative where young people help translate medical terminology into Indigenous languages, making healthcare information more accessible to Indigenous communities. By combining traditional knowledge with modern medicine, the program aims to improve health outcomes while preserving Indigenous languages.
Lyfe Languages has 17 languages listed on the platform with 1159 words translated.
